〔辨析、例证〕

1、可直接修饰 like, enjoy, agree 之类动词和某些过去分词(位置在其之前),而 very 不可以。

She quite likes him, but not enough to marry him.

她相当喜欢他,但还没到嫁给他的程度。

Now she quite enjoys her new job.

现在她很喜欢自己的新工作。

He is quite drunk.

他醉得一塌糊涂。

2、在英国英语中,修饰形容词或副词时为减弱语,即减弱所修饰词的程度,语气弱于 very,一般译为“比较”、“还算”,但在美国英语中则为加强语,等于 very。

The room is quite comfortable.

2、修饰 like, enjoy 之类动词时要用 very much,但位置应在动词的宾语之后。

They like Spanish very much.

Jim enjoys sandwiches very much.
